He is old and is in his sixties, with wrinkles showing each time he smiles. There is something in his smile which displays hospitality that no amount of grooming and self presentation lectures can ever bring. He is the ‘chai waalah’ down the street where my friend took me to.
This evening as the gentle breeze was blowing and the clouds were gathering announcing the rains.I observed this old ‘chai waalah’ who makes the most amazing coffee. He patiently works in his small shed on the pavement.A small table is his work area and two cement slabs beside the stall is where his customers can sit if they wish to.
There is a special aura around him which forces me to believe that life is beautiful.when i am stressed and full of negativity,i go to him for a coffee.i always thought that its the coffee that relieves my worries. But i realized that its not the coffee that lifts my spirits, its the person making it.its his gentle smile when he serves the drink. Its the dedication with which he makes it.its the feeling that its not a mere task to be completed but a service to be given.its the loyalty towards his work…
Its difficult to develop a similar attitude towards work in our job situations, but definitely worth a try.If the formula works we could be better individuals and develop a positive attitude towards life..doing everything with dedication and love and probably the results would be better…
little things in life matter much…its these small moments of realization that become pearls of life…
